Why Ray

One desktop player for videos, subtitles, and AI media features

Watch local media

Open videos from your computer and play them with clean controls, audio tracks, subtitle tracks, and resume support.

Understand more languages

Use subtitles, translation, and AI-powered subtitle creation to follow more of what you watch.

Built for your desktop

Ray runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux, with desktop builds designed for everyday playback and advanced media workflows.

AI when you need it

Ray works as a media player first. When you use AI features, Ray Local can process on your computer, while Ray Cloud handles supported cloud features on TechSpecs servers.

Compatibility

A media player first. AI when you need it.

Everyday playback

Ray is built for everyday media playback on modern desktop systems. You can open local videos, use existing subtitle files, choose audio tracks, and watch without needing special hardware.

Local AI performance

For local AI subtitles and media processing, newer CPUs, Apple silicon, and dedicated GPUs can improve speed and responsiveness.

Cloud-powered features

No powerful computer? Ray Cloud runs supported AI features — like subtitle generation and translation — on TechSpecs servers, so you get full speed on any machine.

FAQ

Which Ray download should I choose?

On a Mac and not sure which chip you have? Choose the Universal installer — it works on both Apple silicon and Intel. On Windows, choose 64-bit for most Intel or AMD PCs, ARM64 for Windows PCs powered by ARM, or 32-bit only for older compatibility needs. Choose Linux for the AppImage build.

Does Ray work without AI?

Yes. Ray works as a desktop media player for everyday watching. AI features are optional.

Do I need a GPU?

No special GPU is required for basic playback. For local AI features, a newer CPU, Apple silicon, or a dedicated GPU speeds things up — and if your computer isn't powerful, Ray Cloud can run AI features on TechSpecs servers instead.

Can Ray create subtitles?

Yes. Ray can use AI subtitle features when supported by your Ray Local or Ray Cloud plan. You can also use existing subtitle files.

Is Ray Cloud required?

No. Ray plays media locally without it. Ray Cloud is optional — it runs AI features on TechSpecs servers, ideal when your computer doesn't have powerful hardware.
